About Jon Supler
After growing up in the state of Pennsylvania, I graduated from Jacksonville University in Florida in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Psychology. Upon completing college, I worked as a framing contractor for the next 4 years and have been working in the home building and construction industry ever since.
In 1982, I began work as a Project Manager for Pulte Homes in Houston, TX. While there I supervised the construction and managed the warranty department of over 1000 single family homes in 5 different neighborhoods. I later transferred with Pulte to the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina to manage their startup operations. In 1987, I left Pulte Homes to become the Division Manager of Legacy Homes, the custom home start up division of Sunstar Homes, which had become very popular in the Triangle for starter and middle income homes.
In 1988, I left Legacy Homes to start Residential Construction Company to build a 4000 square foot day care facility. I then started inspecting homes for friends and turned that into my main business which I have now been doing for the past 30 years. I was a member of a team of inspectors who developed the initial licensing requirements for home inspectors in North Carolina. My NC Home Inspection License number is #048.
When licensure was initiated for home inspectors in North Carolina, I was a member of the original team of American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) who fought and struggled to come up with a standards of practice and a code of ethics that was similar to and modeled after the national ASHI standards. The national ASHI standards had been the best template available at the time to assure that the public was protected by sub-standard work done by unqualified inspectors. My home base is Raleigh,NC, but I do work all over the Triangle in Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Clayton, Durham, Fuquay Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, and Youngsville. Depending on the distance, I also cover other areas in Alamance, Chatham, Cumberland, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Orange, Moore, Nash, Person, Wilson, and Vance counties. In addition to home inspections, I perform well water and septic system inspections, along with continuous Radon monitor testing.
My company mission is to perform as thorough a job for my clients as I can possibly do. My years of building and customer service experience, both with custom and track homes, has allowed me the opportunity to learn what goes wrong when homes are built too fast and what symptoms point to various "hidden" problems. When asked, I will give life expectancy estimates as well as repair estimates for the defects found during the inspection. I am a licensed commercial and residential NC state building contractor, license #25738. I have studied and passed the NC Real Estate exam, but am not currently licensed. I am a graduate of the Exterior Design Institute and a certified EDI steep roof and exterior cladding expert. I am also a NC licensed septic system inspector and a certified stucco inspector, both with EIFS (synthetic) and hard coat stucco. I am an expert in synthetic stone installation and the various problems associated with its use.
And when I'm not climbing on your roof or crawling underneath your house looking for problems, I enjoy spending time with my family which includes my wonderful wife Susan, three beautiful and intelligent grown daughters, one smart and adorable granddaughter, and a fantastic son-in-law.
